The Benefits of Volunteering with Bridge the Gap

You can make a difference in the life of a child by becoming a community service volunteer tutor

We need tutors, as our program continues to grow. Our Tutor Coordinator/Student Advocate works hard to ensure that all of our energetic students are paired with caring adult volunteers or high school student volunteers, in tutoring relationships. The benefits of volunteering in our program can be seen in the growth of each child’s self-esteem and increased interest in their schoolwork.

What we expect from our tutors

If you are interested in becoming a one-to-one turor, we ask that you be willing to do the following:

1. Visit one of our tutoring sessions to get to know our program
2. Make a commitment to participate in our simple screening process, orientation and periodic tutoring workshops
3. Meet consistently at our scheduled tutoring times, Monday and/or Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Our tutoring sessions are offered during the school year, September through May each year
4. Keep up regular contact with your student
